Outdoor Personal Training

Taking care of our health is more important now than ever before. At the Y, we’re here to help you stay active and healthy and focus on what matters most: your health, your family and friends, and your community. 

We are committed to ensuring you have opportunities to focus on your health and well-being, that’s why we are excited to be able to offer our Outdoor Personal Training Program.

Outdoor Personal Training will be a personal training session held outside that will be a combination of bodyweight exercises, resistance bands, dumbbells, kettlebells, conditioning drills and other activities that you and your trainer will incorporate to help you achieve your goals. To ensure your health and safety as one of our top priorities, we will be following the guidelines from our local health department and the CDC which includes health screenings, social distancing, cleaning, and personal protective equipment with every session.

Sessions can either be 30 minute or 60 minutes. Similar to our policies for indoor personal training, sessions purchased as 60 minute sessions cannot be split into two 30 minute sessions.

Yes! Outdoor Personal Training will be available at all branches of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.

Personal Training

Take the first step today!  Our nationally certified personal trainers are dedicated to helping you achieve your specific fitness goals.

They’ll design a personalized fitness program specifically for you and your fitness needs. The benefits of personal training include a personalized program, goal setting, workout variations, accountability, encouragement and motivation, form and technique guidance, and improved health and well-being. We’ll assess your goals and needs, and support your path to a healthy lifestyle.

Personal Training is available individually, with a partner, or in a small group. Ask about our personal training services alone, or combine it with our Registered Dietitian Services or Massage Therapy.

ADULT SPECIALTY SMALL GROUP TRAINING

TRXTM – Develop strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability through total body exercises utilizing suspended straps. Hundreds of adaptable exercises can be found in our three different fitness level classes: Foundations, Intermediate, and Performance.

RIP TrainingTM – Brought to you by TRX. Join this high energy class and learn how to train your core efficiently by activating your core correctly, while also developing functional total body endurance and strength.

Kettle Bell TrainingTM – Increase your functional strength and burn calories efficiently through total body workouts that combine strength, flexibility, and cardio training skills, and the confidence to respond.

SUP Splash FitnessTM – Join in the fun in this multi-level water fitness class in our lap pool! Combining HIIT with strength, balance and flexibility, this class is designed to be a full body workout on Stand Up Paddle Boards.

Auto Pay

Enjoy a discount on your personal training packages. With this new feature, you can set up your personal training sessions as a recurring monthly draft and save on the cost of any personal training packages.

It’s billing made simple.

Entry level personal trainer. Certified through an approved, nationally recognized personal training organization. May have prior experience as a wellness coach, group fitness instructor or similar work experience.

*Starter Pack is two hours of personal training for $99 for NEW MEMBERS only. Can be used in four sessions of 30 minutes, or two sessions of one hour, and must be purchased within 60 days of joining. Two hours can be used in combination with a Massage Therapist.

Auto Pay Level 1

Five or more years of personal training experience. Certified through an approved, nationally recognized personal training organization. Holds at least one additional specialty personal training certification.

*Starter Pack is two hours of personal training for $99 for NEW MEMBERS only. Can be used in four sessions of 30 minutes, or two sessions of one hour, and must be purchased within 60 days of joining. Two hours can be used in combination with a Massage Therapist.

Auto Pay Level 2

Ten or more years of personal training experience. Certified through a nationally recognized personal training organization. Holds at least one additional specialty personal training certification. Has experience working with a wide variety of clients including those with diverse abilities.
